Patrick McCabe is a freelance film and television editor. He also makes films and music under the name Reunited.
He spent his 20s making music, hosting community radio, and managing an independent record label. During this time he graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Communication majoring in film production and journalism.
In 2007 Patrick joined the post-production team on the award winning feature film, Mary and Max. Working closely with editor Bill Murphy ASE, post-production producer Henry Karjalainen, producer Melanie Coombs and director Adam Elliot, Patrick became immersed in data workflows and storytelling techniques, inspiring him to pursue a career in film editing.
Since then he has worked in cutting rooms for film, television and documentary series with some of Australia’s most experienced editors, directors and producers, including Peter Carrodus ASE, Denise Haratzis ASE, Emma Freeman, Shirley Barrett, Glendyn Ivin, Imogen Banks and John Edwards.
Patrick is dedicated to the craft of editing film and television drama, and he chooses projects based on their ability to engage, challenge, and inspire audiences.Exit, Patrick’s first feature film as editor, had its international premiere at the 2011 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, closing the prestigious Camera Lucida section.
He has edited several short films and music videos which have screened locally and internationally at film festivals, on Australia’s MTV and Rage, and received tens of thousands of views online.
A member of the Australian Screen Editors Guild since 2007, Patrick has volunteered for the Victorian ASE committee since 2009 and is currently its Treasurer.
